Dhan Dhan Guru De Pyarai Daughter of Sri Guru Gobind Sahib Ji Daughter of Mata Sahib Kaur Ji Fearless Warriors Courageous Mothers Determined Daughters They suffered great in-humane tortures Watch their children bleed to death Witnessed the brutal murder of their husbands Yet, they fought for freedom and faith Remembered Guru Ji in every breath And were an Inspiration to all Sikhs We are a Kaur Princess We are a Brave Lioness We are the Daughters of the Khalsa

Mata ji was brought up with the consciousness of the Guru’s light; she fulfilled her parent’s aspiration of serving the path of the Guru beyond their expectations by growing into a perfect role model of grace, strength, persistence and sacrifice.

Should thou seek to engage in the game of love, step on to my path with thy head placed in thy palm.

While on this path thou set thy feet, then lay down thy head and mind ungrudgingly…
-Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji

The life story of this unforgettable lady, Mata Gujjar Kaur Ji, is a lighthouse for the generations. Her name is uttered with respect as she preferred faith to a comfortable life. Due to her teaching and upbringing, her young grandsons set an example for others. We Sikhs owe our existence to her. She continued and emphasized the institution of martyrdom in Sikhism.

Mata Gujjar Kaur Ji’s blessings and teachings are ingrained in our history, no matter what our current position is, the future of our panth, where sons and daughters can lay down their lives for their faith is bound to be glorious. While you sit and read the following Sakhis of our Guru, Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji, his four sons, and his Mother, Mata Gujjar Kaur Ji, remember, the long list of martyrs who were sitting and laughing at death, when they had to make the choice to obey the corrupt laws of the empires, or to give their head for Sikhi. They choose to give up their life for their Guru and Sikhi
